How to Make a Seamless Instagram Carousel in 5 Steps

Creating unique and engaging content for social media can be simple and also creative. Making a seamless carousel for Instagram is one way you can improve your online presence in a trendy and clever way. In Photoshop, you can do this in five easy steps.

Step 1

Create a new document (File > New) with the height of 1080 pixels and the width in multiples of 1080 depending on how many slides your carousel will have. Mine will have 5 slides so I set my width to 5400 pixels.

Since this is for social media, the resolution should be 72dpi and in the RGB color mode.

Artboards can be left checked or unchecked as we will only be working on one.

Step 2

To quickly and evenly divide your artboard into each slide, create a new guide layout (View > New Guide Layout). Make sure rows is unchecked and the gutter is set to 0.

Step 3

Create your post! Your guides have already been set so you are free to start designing each slide. To show off the seamless carousel, make sure you have elements that overlap from slide to slide.

One easy way to make the post seamless, is to add a background image that flows across all the slides. Here, I am using a cityscape photo of Dubai from photographer Aleksandar Pasaric. Click the photo below to download the stock image it from Pexels.com.

Step 4

In order to export each slide as it’s own image, we have to convert the guides to slices. Click on the slice tool (C). It’s on the same square as the crop tool. The click on Slices From Guides on the top menu. It’s as easy as that!

Step 5

Export your images and post to Instagram! The most efficient way to export these images is to Save for Web (File > Export > Save for Web).

This will save all of your images at once and save them in the same folder with each one numbered.
